John Coleman is an Information Technology consultant, trading as Dalriada Downshift. He is an IT professional (MBCS CEng CITP) with over 20 years’ experience in software engineering related to engineering/technical applications development. Expert at requirements analysis and database design.
Having worked for several years each in health physics; oil exploration/production; water services; and intelligent transportation systems the present plan is to ‘downshift’ by taking part-time work as an IT consultant. The idea is to continue to offer service in the public and private sectors but also to offer support for charitable organisations and the third sector.
Main roles have included research/development programming; requirements analysis; database design/development; Geographic Information Systems; and project management. Most recent full-time role involved design and ‘Rapid’ development of innovative database systems in support of Object Oriented applications in the transportation sector. Most recent part-time paid role was IT Consultant and website developer for The Breastfeeding Network. Recent charitable work via Charity IT Association has included a new website for Policy Centre for African Peoples and development of the site for Ben Uri Gallery & Museum . Dalriada Downshift is based in Glasgow but John Coleman will travel for meetings and telecommute as necessary.
